Union Township Swim Club– Age Group (Development) Lead Coaches


This position is open for the Long Course 2012 season, and will be filled when the ideal applicant is found.


Club: Union Township Swim Club serves Wheeler High School and all of Porter, Lake, and LaPorte Counties, operating out of the Wheeler Pool at Wheeler High School, an indoor 25 yard facility. The club is approximately 60 members strong and is positioned in a growth area. Union Township Swim Club’s mission is to promote swimming through a positive family environment, emphasizing personal improvement, respect for self and others and dedication to swimming as a daily exercise.


Position: Union Township Swim Club is seeking qualified applicants to serve as a lead group coach with the club’s developmental athletes, primarily the Development Group (10 and under). These coaches may also assist with other groups in the program as directed by the Head Coach.


Responsibilities: This is a part time position, offering up to 8-10 hours per week. Duties include evening practices Monday through Friday and possible Saturday morning practices, and meets when scheduled for swimmers in the respective training groups. Coaches are expected to keep accurate records of group attendance and practice logs.


Qualifications: Applicants (if not previously certified) must be willing to complete certification in CPR and water safety and become a registered coach member of United States Swimming, which requires a criminal background check. Previous competitive swimming and / or coaching experience are preferred, but not required.


Compensation: Pay will be based on experience and qualifications. Professional (certification) costs and continuing education (certifications, clinics, etc …) costs will be covered by the club. All Union Township Swim Club coaches are strongly encouraged to continue their professional development.
